2025 Checklist for participating in the Southwest Livestock Show
1. THE AGE REQUIREMENT RULE: EXHIBITORS MUST BE 8 YEARS OLD BY SEPTEMBER 1, 2024 TO SHOW IN THE 2025 SHOW.
2. All participants must be enrolled in 4-H or FFA. Enrollment lists are sent directly to the respective organizations. If you are not registered with either 4-H or FFA prior to weigh-in, you will not be allowed to weigh in your animal. No exceptions. Please ensure your enrollment is complete and submitted on time!
3. All animals must be tagged at one of the scheduled tagging events. June 7th is the final tagging date — no animals will be tagged after this date. No exceptions. Family Alternates: Alternates may be used by any member of a family unit, which includes siblings, stepchildren, adopted children, or first cousins if all animals are housed at the same location. To use a family alternate, you must submit a letter explaining the circumstances. This letter will be reviewed by the committee and approved on a case-by-case basis.
May 29, 2025 6-7 p.m. Hogs, Goats & Lambs will be tagged in the south parking lot of the Diamond Z Arena.
Steers - Tagging will be held at the Cedar Livestock Auction, (west side, same as in previous years).
May 31, 2025 10-11 a.m. @Beryl Junction, Parowan Fairgrounds, Minersville (Beef animals going to
Minersville will be tagged at Carter’s Feedlot at 9:00 a.m.)
June 7, 2025 10-100 a.m. Hogs, Goats & Lambs will be tagged in the south parking lot of the Diamond Z
Arena. Steers - Tagging will be held at the Cedar Livestock Auction, (west side, same as in previous years).
4. Entries must be submitted online at: swjl.showandfair.com. Entries can be submitted anytime but must be completed by August 5, 2025. You will use the same login from last year. If you have any problems or questions, please reach out to Melanie or Caleb.
If you were a senior in high school as of January 1, 2025, and would like to have a senior spotlight read during the auction, please bring a short paragraph (100 words or less) about your involvement in the show and your future plans. When you enter the sale ring, hand this paragraph to the clerk or auctioneer.
5. Bring your animals to the Diamond Z Arena September 3rd. Unload & pen starting at 10 a.m. Hogs may be brought in starting at 6 a.m.
Hogs need to be penned and their ear tags cleaned before weigh-in starts at 3 p.m.
Weigh-in times for Lambs and Goats from 3 to 5 p.m. at the south end of the barn (please do not line up down the middle of the arena); Hogs from 3 to 4 p.m.; Beef from 4 to 5 p.m., both at the north end of the barn.
A health and soundness check will be conducted on all animals before they are weighed. If any issues are found, the show committee will decide whether the animal is permitted to participate in the show.
6. Check the online schedule regularly, as some events have been added and others have been rescheduled.
7. Every exhibitor is expected to help with cleanup, either on Saturday after the sale or on Monday, September 8th, at 5 p.m. to finish cleaning the barn.
8. Exhibitor checks will be mailed within 60 days after the sale. If a check is lost, the exhibitor will be charged a $25 stop payment fee. Exhibitors have 90 days to cash or deposit their check. After 90 days, uncashed checks will be forfeited to the Southwest Livestock Show as a donation.
9. Pee Wee participants, ages 3 to 8, must register on the website at swjl.showandfair.com. There are three age groups: Juniors (ages 3–4), Intermediate (ages 5–6), and Seniors (ages 7–8), and they may show either a goat or a lamb.
10. If you are a senior and qualify for the Southwest Jr. Livestock Show Scholarship, visit swjl.showandfair.com to print the application and submit it by August 25, 2025.

Minimum weights Lambs 110 lbs., Goats 65 lbs., Hogs 230 lbs., Steer 1100 lbs.
Maximum payout weights Lambs 165 lbs., Hogs 300 lbs., Steers 1450 lbs.
No animal will be sifted if it exceeds these weight limits.
